Current affairs
Newspapers behind the daily TNPSC and UPSC current affairs quiz
சென்னை மற்றும் தமிழ்நாடு பக்கங்களும் தேசிய நாளிதழும் — தினசரி வினாடி வினாவுக்கு.
Named papers. Named pages. Still editorial practice — never official commission text.
The rule will not change even when the stack grows: every exam item should be traceable to public reporting or a named editorial judgement. Every official date still belongs on the commission site.
National dailies
The Hindu (national + Tamil Nadu city pages). BusinessLine when the number is an index, a rupee, or a central bank desk. One other English national only when it carries a document the first paper did not.
Tamil Nadu pages we do not skip
- Chennai city: civic desks (Greater Chennai Corporation, floods, lakes, roads).
- State: Secretariat, Legislative Assembly, departments — Higher Education, School Education, Public, Water Resources, Rural Development.
- District: archaeology, agriculture, industrial townships, when the stem can name a department.
- Weather: Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai — process words (convection, onset), not puddle poetry.
What we open beside the paper
A named Act, a Seventh Schedule head, a Tamil Nadu policy note, or a commission PDF when the story points at one. We do not scrape “100 expected questions”. Secondary headlines are not notifications. If we cite a vacancy or a last date, treat it as a pointer and open the file on upsc.gov.in or tnpsc.gov.in.

What we read
Which newspapers does YOUPSC use for the daily current affairs quiz?
The Hindu (national and Tamil Nadu city pages), BusinessLine when the number is an index or a central-bank desk, and one other English national only when it carries a document the first paper missed. Editorial practice, not commission text.
Does the quiz cover Tamil Nadu current affairs?
Yes. Chennai civic desks, Secretariat departments, Assembly and district stories that can name an actor are read as seriously as the Union brief. Items are tagged TN.
